<H Shrs>HSI Opens 419 Pts Lower; BYD Series Falters Post-Results; Aluminum Stocks Skyrocket

The HSI opened 419 points or 1.7% lower at 24,532. The HSCEI dropped 152 points or 1.8% to 8,301. The HSTECH fell 132 points or 2.8% to 4,645.

PETROCHINA (00857.HK) opened up 1.7% following the oil price rally, even though it reported a 4.5% decline in annual net profit. CNOOC (00883.HK) also grew 2%. Iran's attack on aluminum companies in the UAE and Bahrain led to a spike in aluminum stock prices. CHALCO (02600.HK) and CHINAHONGQIAO (01378.HK) spiked 5.2% and 6.5%.

Gas stock ENN ENERGY (02688.HK) opened down 1.5%, mirroring a 1.4% drop in its annual net profit. Resources stock CMOC (03993.HK) remained flat at HKD16.78, despite a 50% increase in annual net profit. Lithium stock TIANQI LITHIUM (09696.HK) gained 1.6%. It made a turnaround with an annual net profit of RMB458 million.

BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) opened declining 4.6%. Its annual net profit dropped 19%. BYD ELECTRONIC (00285.HK) also recorded a 18% decrease in annual net profit, sinking its stock price by 4%. XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) lost 2.1%. LI AUTO-W (02015.HK) and NIO-SW (09866.HK) eroded 2.9% and 2.8%. XPENG-W (09868.HK) dived 4.3%.

Among other tech stocks, TENCENT (00700.HK) faded 1.7% at open. BABA-W (09988.HK) slipped 3.6%. KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK) and MEITUAN-W (03690.HK) faltered 2.3% and 2.6%. JD-SW (09618.HK) receded 3%. BIDU-SW (09888.HK) tumbled 4.4%. NTES-S (09999.HK) stayed unchanged at HKD173.1. MEITU (01357.HK) sank 3.6%. Chip stocks SMIC (00981.HK) and HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) plunged 3.8% and 2.7%.
