The US government doesn't intend to levy tariffs on imported generic drugs, according to The Wall Street Journal.

US President Donald Trump earlier announced a 100% tariff on brand-name drugs starting October 1, yet generic drugs weren't mentioned in his announcement, a move said to stall for time to negotiate with drug makers.

Meanwhile, White House spokesperson Kush Desai has issued a statement saying that the current administration isn't actively discussing imposing tariffs on generic drugs under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962.
