PBOC: Liabilities of Banking Institutions Hike 6.5% YoY Last Yr

According to preliminary statistics released by the People's Bank of China (PBOC), the total assets of financial institutions in China amounted to RMB495.59 trillion at the end of 2024, marking a YoY growth of 7.5%.

Specifically, banking institutions' total assets swelled by 6.5% YoY to RMB444.57 trillion, securities institutions' surged by 9.1% YoY to RMB15.11 trillion, and insurance institutions' soared by 19.9% YoY to RMB35.91 trillion.

During the period, the liabilities of financial institutions amounted to RMB452.17 trillion, representing a rise of 7.5% YoY. Among them, banking institutions' liabilities spiked by 6.5% YoY to RMB408.11 trillion, securities institutions' climbed by 10% YoY to RMB11.48 trillion, and insurance institutions' ballooned by 19.7% YoY to RMB32.58 trillion.
