HSI Once Escalates 665 Pts to Break 22,500-mark After Midday, HSTECH Sets ~3-yr High; Yet XIAOMI/ SMIC Sag

Hong Kong stocks continued yesterday's uptrend on expectation of technological breakthroughs in China's large AI modules. The HSI opened 100 points higher before its gains gradually expanded this morning (13th), supported by heavy-weighting techs and AIA (01299.HK). The index once escalated 665 points to 22,523 after midday, logging an over-4-month high, and jumped 450 points or 2.1% to last at 22,308, with a turnover of $258.365 billion. The HSTECH once leaped 4.2% to 5,503 after midday, setting a nearly 3-year high since mid-February 2022, and last mushroomed 126 points or 2.4% to 5,407. However, some of the previously popular stocks retreated. XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) declined from its historical closing high, and last cascaded 4.88% to $41.95, with a turnover of $9.262 billion. SMIC (00981.HK) once hiked to an all-time high of $49.6 before subtracting during the intraday trading session, and waned 3.44% to last at $46.3 after midday, with a turnover of $6.699 billion. BYD ELECTRONIC (00285.HK) slipped after hitting a record high of $61.55 during the intraday trading session, and last eroded 6.44% to $56.7, with a turnover of $2.018 billion.
